Wi-Spy with my little eye

by Sherry on December 17th, 2007

Wi-Fi is becoming more and more popular these days, but unfortunately a lot of other devices can interfere with the signals. Wi-Spy is a nifty little 2.4 GHz spectrum analyzer. It will show signal strengths coming from Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth, cordless phones, microwaves and anything else that transmits on the same frequency. From there you can tell which channels are optimal for you.

This would be especially useful if you’re traveling about and sitting in an unfamiliar cafe or airport terminal, looking for some reliable Wi-Fi to check your mail. You can grab one from the always awesome ThinkGeek for $200.
