Traveler IQ Challenge - Online games for the intrepid traveler

by Sherry on April 30th, 2008

I fully confess that this is neither a travel gadget nor a useful travel website (though it’s housed on TripAdvisor.com so you can look up travel info when you’re done!), this game is a little bit of a fun distraction for anyone who loves travel.

How well do you know your world is the question that the Traveler IQ Challenge asks. The answer comes in how high up in the ranking you can get. You will be given a world map, then asked to locate, with your mouse, some world capitals or famous locations. The closer you get to the correct location, the higher your points. On top of that, the faster you answer, the better your score.

It’s addictive and by the time you finally aren’t allowed to move any further ahead because you lack the required points, you’ll find yourself wanting to play again. My best question/answer today was clicking 23 km away from the Bay of Fundy. My worst was when I panicked and completely forgot where Easter Island is and ended up clicking about 18,000 km away. Oops!

Not only is the game fun - and as I mentioned, it’s on the TripAdvisor.com site, so there’s plenty of actual travel info to be found - but it could also pass some time for you if you’re stuck sitting around an airport waiting for your layover.

Very fun game! I’ve played it before, but it’s always fun to do so again. I think you jinxed me with Easter Island lol, cuz I made the same mistake. I was only 13,000 km away though :P

I LOVE this game. I’m addicted to it on Facebook (where you can play it as an application), but I inevitably fail powerfully. *sigh* oh well- I always learn somethign.
