Snowscoot on your winter vacation

by Sherry on January 21st, 2008

You know what would suck? If you and a group of friends or family were all booking a great holiday vacation to, say, the Swiss Alps, or Whistler up in Canada - and you can’t ski. You could take lessons, of course, but on the other hand, you could just pick up the Snowscoot by JK Sports.

snowscoot

I have to confess I had a good laugh when I saw this. Not because it’s not innovative, but it just doesn’t look like it would be any easier than skiing.

Basically, you stand on it - facing forward, rather than sideways like you would on a snow board or skate board. It uses a frame that is built much like a bike with handlebars. It also has an extra board attached to the front, unlike your average snow board. While standing on it, you use the wheel on the handle to steer the Snowscoot as you go down the hill. *Allegedly* it’s quite easy to balance yourself on it.

I don’t know. I think if I’m going to fall, I’d rather fall on skis. I would suggest just taking lessons, but if you’d rather not, you can try this to see if you can keep up with everyone who is zipping down the hills on their skis and snowboards.

(Is it just me or does the Snowscoot kind of look like something you’d expect to see in a Mr. Bean skit?)

1 opinion for Snowscoot on your winter vacation

Just make sure the resort you are travelling to allows this thing on their designated runs and lifts. Some are quite specific (or should I say their insurance companies) about what is allowed slopeside.
