Perch your GPS safely

by Sherry on July 5th, 2008

When it comes to finding useful travel gadgets and gear, of course we want convenience, and something that works well. It’s it’s really freakin’ awesome that’s a nice bonus. But of course, we also need our gadgets to be safe.

The Bracketron Universal Nav-Mat GPS Dash Mount is a little device that looks a lot like the bean bags we used to play with as kids, but in this case, it mounts on your car’s dash to safely hold your GPS device. It keeps the GPS in a spot that is easy to see so you aren’t looking away from the street to glance down at something around stereo level, and it keeps it from sliding around which can also be dangerous.

It’s simple to install - tool-free! - and is easily removed so that you can take it to another car or stick everything in your glove compartment to keep it out of sight after you’ve left the car.

Aside from GPS devices, it’s also compatible with cell phones (which should be used with the bluetooth headpiece, naturally) and MP3 players.

It’s currently out of stock but as soon as they have more, you can buy one for only $30.

So simple, yet so cool! This is totally one of those things that you think “Why didn’t someone come up with that sooner??”

Does not work with the TomTom GPS due to the cord plug being located on the bottom of the unit. We bought the Nav-Mat dash mount when we bought the GPS unit. If someone who owns a TomTom GPS unit knows how to get it to work with the Nav-Mat unit, I would be interested in finding out your setup.
