Pee in the car!

by Sherry on October 26th, 2007

By mid-November, you can pick yourself up a little gear to make long road trips a little easier if you don’t mind the somewhat weird nature of it. Japan’s Kaneko Sangyo Company has created a travel-friendly portable toilet that packs easily in your car. It comes with a curtain to conceal yourself while you do your duty (doody? Sorry, couldn’t resist). When you’re done, there’s also a plastic bag to collect waste.

Essentially the toilet is made of cardboard and requires a quick assembly and a moment to place a water-absorbent plastic sheet inside. It’s small enough to pack it up in a suitcase when you’re not using it, but honestly, plastic sheet or not, I’d be pretty hesitant to stick a portable toilet next to my shirts and socks, you know?

Details aren’t clear enough to know whether it’s meant to be used in the actual car or if you’re meant to place it on the side of the road, though I would assum e(and hope) for the latter.

I can see some practicalities, such as if you’re traveling with potty-training children who can’t hold it until the next rest stop, but frankly, I would either cross my legs and hope for a gas station.

Alas, no pictures of it yet.
