LightCap

by Sherry on December 13th, 2007

What are two things you might need if your travel plans include the great outdoors? A water bottle (filled with water, preferably!) to keep yourself hydrated and a flashlight to find your way if you’re out when the sun goes down (handy to have in case a hike takes longer than you’re expecting or if you’re on a camping vacation and need to find your way to the toilets).

Instead of carrying a separate bottle and flashlight, just carry one. SolLight has gone and created a combination that takes care of both needs. The cap contains a nice little LED lamp and has a solar panel that keeps the light charging in sunlight or a brightly lit room, so no need for batteries. The white LED light lasts 8-10 hours on a full charge (12 hours) or you can use a red LED for 16-18 hours, though I’m not sure how helpful a red light would be out on the trail unless you feel like playing Blair Witch and scaring the crap out of your travel companions.

Meanwhile, you have a nice bottle full of water. Which you can drink and then find a use for the light as you end up having to traipse to the bathrooms again!

You can pick one up for $24.95.
