Get a good holiday flight deal

by Sherry on November 9th, 2007

Holiday season is just around the corner and some people need to book flights in order to get together with their family members. The sad thing is that unfortunately it can be very expensive. My own sister is out East and she won’t be coming home for Christmas this year, partly because she’s not sure she’ll be getting time off between Christmas and New Year’s, but even if she does she can’t afford it. We’re only two provinces apart but it would cost a small fortune for her and her fiance to come out here.

However, if you definitely need to get back home this season, at least you can try to get the best deal, right? FareCompare is a great site that can help you keep track of late-breaking flight deals for the next little while.

In order to really get the best deals you’re going to have to be able to be somewhat flexible. If you insist on flying out on a Friday but the best deal is on Thursday, you may be out of luck. You also have to be able to book at least one full week ahead of the date, so keep in mind that last minute isn’t literally last minute.

It’s easy to use and may save you some money so you can buy that gift you really wanted for your mom.

There is another great site out there that you might not be aware of called Airfarewatchdog.com.

These guys search thousands of fares by hand every day to come up with the best possible deals. They cover all of the discount carriers as well as specials listed only on airline websites. Plus you can sign up for a daily newsletter which let’s you know about the best fares from your city.

    Worth checking out…
