Consolidate your phone numbers

by Sherry on July 24th, 2007

If you own your own business and travel a lot, Grand Central could be a really useful service for you. It’s in Beta right now, but it’s also a Google service, so you know that it will likely get stronger and more improved rapidly, just like all their services (hi, I’m a HUGE Google fan).

What it does is consolidate all your phone numbers into one single access number. With it, you choose one new number and you can hook it up to office phone, land line, and cell phone. Instead of giving everyone three or four numbers where they can reach you, they only need one lone number.

The service doesn’t stop there though, you can set up one voicemail so that if you’re on the road somewhere you don’t need to check three or four different voice boxes for important messages. There are tons of other features too.

When you’re traveling, making life simple is invaluable, so it’s worth checking out; if you’re going away for a week it may not matter, but if you travel every month it could save you a lot of time and hassle.

Hi Sherry! Enjoying your posts. Just an FYI on Grand Central. Since it has been taken over by Google and is now in Beta, you have to sign in, request a number, then WAIT to be invited. Or at least I did. I guess the best things in life (Google) are free, but not always immediate.
