Air France and OnAir have teamed up to make in-flight mobile phone service a possibility on international flights. With the service, passengers can send and receive SMS, send and receive email, and during the second trial phase they can make and receive calls as well.
They made mention of the service “being regulated to maintain passengers’ comfort and well-being” but I’m not entirely sure what that means and what the regulation will be.

Now here’s something I’d love your opinion on!

This looks like a fairly typical cell phone, yes? However, it’s also something that can be used for your own protection, and I could see it being marketed towards people who enjoy solo travel, especially women. Although it doesn’t actually function as a cell phone, it does come with a built-in 12 LED flashlight and a holster and batteries.
