Technically, it’s on Monday, but most people celebrate on the Sunday with a big family dinner, so on behalf of Geeky Traveller, I wish all my fellow Canadians a very Happy Thanksgiving! Luckily for me, my holiday didn’t involve any stressful travel since my parents came to me on Saturday and our Sunday dinner is at my in-laws’ just around the corner. I’ve used many different travel books in the past, including Frommer’s and they’re incredibly handy. They provide you with maps, listings, must-see locations, usually even some basic phrases if language is a consideration.

The problem with them, however, is that they’re not particularly convenient. They’re fun to flip through when you’re sitting at home on your couch in the planning stages, but who wants to actually go sight-seeing with a big book that you have to flip back and forth through? I always figure that the more stuff I’m carrying while I’m walking around, the more stuff I have to potentially lose or forget.

Frommer’s is clearly brilliant and forward thinking since now you can not only buy the books in your regular book store, you can also go to iTunes and buy the digital version for ten bucks each from the App Store. The digital books are available for both the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

Right now, they’re offering the 2008 editions for London, New York, San Francisco, and Paris, but stay tuned for more destinations over time!

(source)

Post from: Geeky Traveller

New travel product blog!

Travel Channel

Travel Ease

My fabulous blog network, b5media, has recently launched another blog in the travel channel – this one will feature a lot of great travel products that might be of interest to you.
