The Geek factor for dating in Vegas

The Geek factor for dating in Vegas

There are a lot of reasons to go to Las Vegas. You can check out The Las Vegas Adventurer for proof of that.
However, tech-type geeks looking for love on their travels will soon have another reason to go. Microsoft is going to launch their new Microsoft Surface at the Rio hotel – the i-bar so to speak. It’s a set up of six tables where guests can play games, flirt, send messages to each other, and order drinks from the bar.
You can do the bar equivalent of online dating right there at the table but instead of …read more

Fight jet lag with futuristic LED glasses

Fight jet lag with futuristic LED glasses

The biggest downside to travel has definitely got to be the associated jet lag if you’re crossing several time zones. It can take days to get rid of that sluggish feeling because of your body’s inner clock not meshing with the time around you.
Re-Time wants to help you adjust. They claim that their LED glasses can help stop jet lag in its tracks.
The company used data from sleep researchers to conclude that a combination of blue and green light can help to change your circadian rhythm – it’s the upset in that rhythm that causes you to feel …read more

Jet lagged? Perk UP with Viagra!

Jet lagged? Perk UP with Viagra!

Here’s something I had never heard of before. We all know the most common reason for someone to take Viagra, and it’s got nothing to do with airplane travel. But apparently, there’s been a little bit of buzz about how Viagra, besides its obvious use, can help treat jet lag in travelers.
Image details: The Merger of Pfizer and Warner-Lambert served by picapp.com
No, really. People are using Viagra to treat jet lag!
It’s still being disputed and experts still suggest you’d be better off trying other things like getting outside for fresh air or ingesting a bit of caffeine, …read more

Eat up in the sky

Eat up in the sky

Anyone can go to Europe or South Africa and eat a lovely meal in a nice little five-star restaurant. But can you sit at a table suspended by a crane 50 meters above the ground?

Dinner in the Sky is an organization that will use a crane to hoist you and over 20 of your friends or colleagues way up above the ground so you can eat your meal with an incredible view. You can book yourself for any kind of meal, whether you want to start your morning off with breakfast and heart palpitations, cocktails, or a …read more

Lunar-inspired hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan

Lunar-inspired hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is not a country that is usually top on the list for people desperately wanting a vacation, but they’re working on a concept hotel that may draw attention and interest. Although it’s designed in such a way that it changes appearance depending on the angle, from the front it looks remarkably like the Death Star from Star Wars, and I have to say that if I did end up needing to travel there for some reason, I would totally want to stay in the Death Star hotel!
Seriously, look at this thing!
(Technically, they’re saying the design is lunar-inspired, but …read more

Here’s an interesting concept. The Sheraton Waikiki has installed a fun new feature in their lobby – a virtual surf simulator. If you can’t swim, are afraid deep water, or just find you can’t even stand up on a board in the waves, you can still surf with the best of them. Sort of.
You can stand on the totally grounded surfboard, which will then mimic some of the motions of surfing, while you watch the “waves” in front of you on a screen.
What do you think? …read more

Smell your city of choice

Smell your city of choice

At first glance, this is one of the strangest “gadgets” I have ever seen or heard of – the AIR is a bubble that will use your olfactory memory to remind you of different cities. Hilda Kozari created three bubbles that replicate the smells of Helsinki, Budapest, and Paris.
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? And yet, if you think about it, our sense of smell is the strongest of all five senses. I know that when I opened a box that contained some beautiful tablecloths that belonged to my late grandmother, it wasn’t the image of the cloths that …read more

Keep a flask under your foot

Keep a flask under your foot

From the “no WAY” files – let’s say you’re hitting Cancun or Punta Cana right smack dab in the middle of Spring Break and you want to party it up without the hassle of fighting your way through the crowds to get to the bar. Or maybe you’re so comfortable on the beach that you can’t even will yourself ot flop into the pool and float over to the swim-up bar.
