Camping with smoothies (or margaritas!)
I’m really digging around these days for interesting things people use for camping. Like I’ve said in the past, I’m pretty simplified for camping. When I went camping last weekend I did have to pack a lot of stuff but that was only because my kids are 4 and 1 1/2 years old and you never know when they might need a change of clothes. Still, even though I like to try to pack all my own belongings into a very tiny bag and call it a day, camping gadgets are fun!

Which is why I was totally amused by this hand powered blender by Vortex! It’s a 1.5 liter pitcher and the removable pouring spout actually doubles as a shot glass. The base of the blender also fits inside the pitcher to take up as little space as possible in your baggage. It attaches to surfaces like picnic tables or even a block of wood, and once you fill it up, start cranking for your smoothie. Or, uh, for your margarita! (Although too much margarita fun and you may find the cranking a bit hard!)
Apparently it is a bit noisy, but if you really need that smoothie to start your day or you want to enjoy some frosty mixed beverages by the campfire, you might be willing to pay out the $88 and put up with a bit of noise.

If that is what camping is all about… smoothies and margaritas, I just might give it another try. It meant roughing it when I was younger. :)

Now this has some merit!! My daughter took a hammer to a tray of ice cubes for me yesterday. She insisted that it was no big deal, but this gadget couldn’t be any noisier than crushing ice cubes with a hammer. ;)
