People often ask why anyone would want to take all their stuff with them when they’re traveling to go on vacation. Why take your laptop, for instance? Well I can tell you why I would personally want to take my laptop if I was going away for a minimum of a week. It wouldn’t matter much to me whether there was Wi-Fi available because I don’t want to check my mail of read blogs when I’m on vacation, but the laptop would come in handy because I’m a photo fiend and could easily fill up my card. I went on a three-and-a-half day getaway in June and in that course of time I took over 250 photos in high resolution – a week or more would definitely fill up my card.

You could just buy an extra card for your camera, but another option is to pick up the Lowepro Fast Pack, which has two compartments – the one on the bottom opens to reveal a well-padded safe place to carry your camera as well as some lenses. Meanwhile, the top section opens to give you a secure compartment to slide in a laptop.

If you have both your laptop and your camera with you on vacation, you can download all your photos on a daily basis when you get back to your hotel, thereby freeing up your card to take more photos the next day.

Granted, I wouldn’t want to walk around all day long with a laptop on my back as it could get a little heavy when combined with a camera and multiple lenses, but you could always leave it in your hotel’s safety deposit box (I wouldn’t leave it in your room and if you don’t have the box as an option, then you should obviously take it with you when you go out).
