Creative Zen mp3 player ideal for travel

I’m in the market for a new mp3 player because I accidentally jammed and broke the button that raises the volume on my current one. That means I can’t turn anything up at all so I also can’t lower volume since I can’t bring it back up later. Pretty much 90% of my music collection is too low to hear it very well when I’m outside because it can’t compete with city noises.

Creative Zen media player

Whenever I’m looking for a particular gadget I tend to poke all around the internet to see what other people are using. When I was sent a link to this review of a Creative ZEN media player, I was really impressed.

I can’t imagine traveling without an mp3 player. If you’re driving you can use one in the car to avoid being stuck with radio stations that might not play enough of what you enjoy. If you’re traveling by bus, train, or plane, you can listen to one to pass the time, and if you use one that plays video too you can watch movies or tv shows as well.

The Zen player seems really great for travel purposes. The reviewer makes two strong points for this particular media player, being that it comes with a great deal of storage – while you can get the smaller 2 or 4 GB models, it also goes up to 32 GB and can expand even further via its SD slot. That’s a whole lot of space! The other useful bit of information is that its battery life is stellar. You can get approximately 25 hours of audio battery life (five if you’re watching video). It also charges quickly in about one to two hours.

That’s important because if your travel time is going to be long, you want enough stuff to listen to without getting bored with it and you don’t want to have to worry about charging it.

Three bonus mentions were the fact that it has a built-in alarm which can be very useful on your trip, it continues playing where you left off when you turn it back on (it is SO annoying that some mp3 players still don’t do that!), and it doesn’t require any special software so you can hook it up to anyone’s computer for charging purposes and to transfer media.

You can buy it in various storage sizes on Amazon.

I can’t live without a mobile music player either, Sherry.

A relative bought a Creative Zen player recently — the smaller, previous generation — and I really like it. But when I decided to upgrade from my reliable “old” triangular iRiver player bought in the early 2000s, I went for a Sansa Rhapsody (because with all of the discounts, I paid practically pennies).

The funny thing is I can’t get past the computer-charging requirement. I prefer just swapping batteries, which is why I haven’t touched the Sansa since the power ran out last summer. Instead, I pulled out my “antique” iRiver that runs forever on one AA battery and haven’t looked back yet.

If only the newer players had both a battery and a charging option…

You can recharge the Zen w/o using PC power.Creative Lab sells an a/c power cable for it to use w/ their usb cable. If you travel, there are simple/economically priced inverters out there now. They have a cigarette lighter and airplane attachments to power your USB,or 3prong type devices.

I held off buying a MP3 player for a REALLY long time b/c I wanted a small form factor, great battery life, clean design, less proprietary design.Zen works for me,especially reading Sherry’s comment about being able to continue a track after turning it off.Having no extra buttons then on/off,on its display works well also.
