Solar powered car

How green do you want to be when you head out on your road trip? Green enough to drive around in this solar powered car from Taiwan? It’s roughly $24K, and that gives you a fairly unattractive vehicle without doors (hello, safety issue?). While it will run under solar power, the battery only gives you about three hours for night time driving. That might be okay if you’re planning to check into a motel for the night, but I wouldn’t want to be stuck on a dark highway somewhere because the battery died out 15 minutes after saying, “I’m pretty sure we can make it to the next rest stop!”

Also, I’m not sure I like the idea of driving alongside an 18-wheeler in something this small, especially when it looks a little on the ah, *collapsible* side.

The idea is a good one, but I think we’ll be needing some more prototypes before we start seeing them on the road.

And please enclose the darn thing!
