A glimpse of home that is also useful
A common travel tip is to bring something with you that adds some of the comfort of home to personalize your hotel room. Some people like to bring their own pillow or a special blanket, and many people like to bring scented candles to keep it from having a generic hotel smell.
Here’s a little gadget I can suggest to you that will not only remind you of home, but it will be handy as well. The new Color Photo Viewer from Sharper Image will let you bring photos of home that will make you feel better – pictures of your family, your friends, your furry dog, whatever makes you feel grounded. However, more than just a digital photo frame, it comes with a little interface on the lower part of the frame that will allow you to use it as a weather station. You can find out what the weather is in your current area right down to the temperature, humidity, forecast for later in the day, and even the phases of the moon. On top of that, you can program an alarm clock (the clock is set by the U.S. Atomic Clock so you will have no excuse for being late!) for your morning wake up call so that you won’t miss that early meeting.
The frame features a 7-inch LCD, 128MB which can be expanded with an SD card, and it even has a remote control. It’s still a bit steep at $199, but that’s not all that bad for everything you get with it.
