Making your hotel room like home

Everyone knows that one of the best ways to make your hotel room feel like home for a few days or weeks is to add small touches from home. Even with regular cleaning services, hotel rooms don’t smell like home though – they likely smell more like a combination of industrial-strength cleaning solution and leftover previous tenant. Delightful! Or not.

An easy way to rid yourself of hotel smell has always been to bring a nice fragrant candle in a scent you like, especially if you use the same one in your own home. However, tea lights can scatter everywhere in your suitcase and pillar candles are bulky and take up place that could otherwise be used for shoes or souvenirs (or those little shampoo bottles in the bathroom!).

For a very reasonable $20, you can order a USB-powered scented oil burner. If you’re on business, you’ve likely got a laptop with you anyway and this can tuck right into your laptop bag. The tray is only 4 cm in diameter and uses a 1.5 meter cable. With each purchase you get one burner and one scented pastille.

Imagine how comfortable you’ll be if you have to sit in your hotel room preparing documents for the next day’s meeting while the scent of lavendar or peppermint washes over you. It sure beats the alternative!
