Travel inspired by movies

Over on Travel Gear & Gadgets Blog, I noticed an entry that discussed movies that inspire travel. I started thinking about it and actually, yes, there are several movies I’ve seen that make me add the location to my mental list of “places I must see before I die”.

For me, some of these movies include:

  1. Message in a Bottle
  2. Vertical Limit
  3. All Harry Potter movies
  4. Mission to Mars (hee, sorry, couldn’t resist)
  5. Amelie
  6. Chocolat
  7. Beyond Borders (always wanted to do humanitarian work like that)

I’m sure there are many others that I can’t think of off the top of my head. Also, sad but true, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, television version, sparked an insatiable desire to see Prague some day.

What movies (or even TV shows) made you want to travel?

Caravans, without a doubt… I think it was based on a James Michener novel. The music was haunting and the vistas of central Asia stick in my mind today.
