Camping, but not really

Picture this situation – you love the great outdoors but you don’t love it enough to erect a tent in it. You love to commune with nature but you don’t want nature to commune with you by having it crawl into your sleeping bag with you.

Travelodge came up with a compromise. The mobile hotel room, called the “Travelpod”. No, seriously.

The pod is sealed in a polycarbonate glass box and comes with everything you expect from a basic hotel room – television, air conditioning, bed, lights, carpeting, dressing table, and blinds.

It’s an interesting concept but it also reminds me of those glass rooms that they stick people in out in public for performance art or those reality shows like Big Brother.

What do you think?

You can also rent an RV and have the same amenities and more, or you could buy. You don’t have to use a tent.

This is a great concept. How much do these cost?

Reminds me of the Single Hauz idea I saw on BLDGBLOG: http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2007/08/single-hauz.html

If I had to go camping, this is the way I would want to camp! (If I had to, mind you! lol)
