Using the new iPhone for travel ease

First, let me just say that as a Canadian, I am SO JEALOUS of the Americans who already have their pretty, shiny, awesome iPhones. Never mind the fact that it’s probably going to cost a fortune for the monthly services. Still. Shiny. Pretty. I want.
In any case, there are already some nifty travel-based addons for the iPhone that may – assuming the work as planned – make your life easier when traveling.
The travel category at Phone Launcher already has several programs that are made for the iPhone. For instance, New York On Tap provides you with New York City bars, including directions and nearest subway stops.
The iPhone Travel interface will allow you to book flights, hotels, cars, and cruises right from the palm of your hand.
Expodition is a service that makes Pod Snapshots, basically pods of information about various local areas and travel destinations so you can find out what’s happening in any area.
The iPhone is undoubtedly going to be ridiculously popular and these companies are very smart to get services set up for it right now. Imagine how quickly you’ll be able to set yourself up with all these options.
(I still want one. Now.)

There’s a part of me that really wants this gadget — and a part of me that says it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure which side is winning out.
