TripConnect: Social Networking for Travel

Bree writes about TripConnect. As far as I can figure, they’re LinkedIn for travellers:

Founded in 2004 and based in New York City, TripConnect, Inc. is an online service that allows people to get travel advice from people they know, others who share similar interests, and also from established and relevant information sources.

Like many travel sites, they’re pretty US-centric. For example, they have nearly twice the reviews for the States than for all of Europe.

I’m heading to Venice later this month for a little R & R, so I checked out TripConnect’s Venice page. Frankly, it’s kind of scant. Two tiny reviews and some recommended articles. Not bad, but not exactly exhaustive.

The more I look at the site, it’s more Epinions for travel than LinkedIn. At least Epinions has more content (if a lousier design).
